Why "Matchmaker"?
Inspired by the 1971 film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Fiddler on the Roof about life among the Jewish community of a pre-revolutionary Russian village. A poor milkman, determined to find good husbands for his five daughters, consults the traditional matchmaker - and also has a word with God.
At the end of each year, a group of generous donors make a pledge to "match" dollar-for-dollar any funds raised by our community. This year, we are aiming to raise $90,000 in total by year end. This gives The Marriage School a stable footing for starting out the next year.
